Your Website is not a Business Card!


Do you think of your website as something you just ad to your business cards and advertising?

If you do your missing out on more customers “New Customers”.

Sure when you hand out business cards with your website info on it that is a great value to your business, also it is good putting your website info in media advertising.

Now media advertising costs you money to place ads.

You have to pay to have business cards made.

Pay per click advertising can cost a small fortune to get your website info out to prospective new customers, “if you dont know what your doing”.

Why not let your website pay you?

How you ask?

Im glad you asked, the answer is “search engine optimization” also know as SEO.

When done right it can have a massive effect on your business, by getting NEW customers to your website from search engines.

I keep telling potential clients that 85 % of all products and services are found by potential NEW customers from the internet by searching sites like google and yahoo.

Local search customers, are they finding your website?

Google now has what I call a 10 box slot, or better know as google maps on certain keywords.

For example, do a google search for “lawyer” without the quotes, you should see a map showing lawyers in your area.

Now do you know which keywords trigger this map?

Do you know how to make sure your ad is in that box, and not in the more results part?

If your website is not listed in that box you are missing out on a great source for NEW customers.

Worse yet is the fact that google finds a lot of these site’s through the phone book.

That means that if you dont have a website the only thing your space shows is a map and your phone number.

Sure that can help your business, but with a website listed there instead of just a phone number, your new customer ’s could click on the ad and go right to your website.

Why does that matter?

Again Im glad you asked. Well for starters do you offer any specials for new or existing customers? Your website can and should have that information on it.

What about interacting with your customers, does your website have a subscription box where customers can subscibe to your news letter and get your deal of the day or whatever you choose to tell them via your news letter.

Now what about finding customers out of your local market.

If you sell products or services that are bought or used by people outside your local market you need to be found on the search engines regular listings, where there is no google map 10 box.

These are just a few reasons why your business website needs to be more than just a business card.
